Five people injured in three car crash on A19

Five people were injured in a three car crash which saw one vehicle overturn.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at 9.15pm on Monday.

Three vehicles, one of which overturned, crashed on the A19 northbound between the Holystone and Killingworth junctions in North Tyneside.

Five people were taken to Cramlington Hospital by ambulance, and were released following treatment.

The northbound road was closed for three hours to allow for the scene to be investigated.

Police are appealing for witnesses and officers want to hear from anyone who saw a red and a white car driving northbound on the A19 just before the collision occurred.

Officers also want to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision.
