A popular football tournament is coming back for its third year.
The Tynemouth Beach Soccer Cup, co-ordinated by Northumberland FA, will take place on the award-winning Longsands Beach on Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5.
For the first time, boys and girls youth sides from U13 to U15 will be able to compete, alongside the inclusive men’s and women’s tournaments.
Each contest is five-a-side in format, with eight players allowed in each squad, and entry costs £25 per team.
The event also raises funds and awareness for local charity North East Hearts with Goals, supporting the placement of portable defibrillators into sports clubs, schools, and community centres.
David Jones, football development officer at Northumberland FA, said: “We’re extremely excited to be hosting this event once again, and look forward to welcoming spectators and players to Longsands Beach.
“Footballers are invited to take part in this fun tournament, regardless of whether they play every week or haven’t kicked a ball in years.
“The main point in the contest is to have fun and to raise money for a brilliant charity, North East Hearts with Goals.
“I’d encourage anybody with a passion for football to get involved.”
Northumberland FA is also looking for volunteers to assist in running the festival, as well as sponsors to help raise more funds for North East Hearts with Goals.
