Whitley Bay Boys Club Under 12 Blues team came up with the idea to collect in aid of Depaul, based in the town.

The charity works with homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged young people across the North East.

The Boys Club and coach Tom Bodley collected bags of warm clothing, food, toiletries and a slow cooker.

Laura Warner, from Depaul, said: “We are so grateful for the kindness of the Whitley Bay Boys Under 12 Blues Team.

“Depaul relies on the support of the local community to be able to give the vulnerable, disadvantaged homeless people we work with in the region the opportunities we believe they deserve.”

“The items donated are much needed and the people we work with will be grateful not only for the items but also to know that there are people locally who want to help them whilst they experiencing difficulties.”
