Key public transport issues are to be discussed at a forum meeting.

Smartcard ticketing and information about cycling in North Tyneside are among items on the agenda for the North Tyneside Transport Forum.

Local residents are invited to attend the meeting, which takes place from 6pm to 8pm at Whitley Bay Customer First Centre, York Road, on Tuesday, September 29.

Residents can share constructive feedback while representatives of bus and Metro operators will be in available to answer questions.

There will also be an opportunity to hear more about the development of the borough’s new cycling strategy and travel options to the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington.

Coun John Harrison, cabinet member for housing and transport, said: “Public transport as well as cycling and walking make a valuable contribution to North Tyneside’s economy and to the health and wellbeing of residents.

“I hope as many people as possible are able to come along on Tuesday to hear first hand from the public transport operators and council officers as well having the chance to contribute to the discussion.”
