Free sessions to help actors with film skills

BUDDING young actors are being given the chance to take part in a series of film screen acting sessions this month.

ACT 2 CAM are beginning their film season with a schedule of workshops to be held in January, and are calling all aspiring actors between the ages of 11 and 18 to come along and be involved in a number of free screen acting sessions.

Since 2008 ACT 2 CAM has provided young people with opportunities to get involved in various aspects of film making practice and these exciting workshops have been developed to give them the chance to work alongside an inspiring team of award winning TV and film industry professionals.

The sessions will take place between January 11 to 25, after which students will can begin a series of workshops where there will be opportunities to work behind the camera, directing and filming as well as taking a starring role on screen.

At the end of the rehearsal period students will shoot the film on location in Tyne and Wear, with a professional film crew.

After the film is edited ACT 2 CAM will invite parents and students to the premiere of their film at Tyneside Cinema, and cast and crew will receive a DVD and the films will be entered in to film festivals worldwide.

ACT 2 CAM director Stephen Woods said: “We want to give young people in Whitley Bay the opportunity to work at professional level in film, giving them the skills and experience necessary to take them into their future careers.

“There are some very talented young actors and film-makers out there who need the opportunity to make films and get their work seen.

“We are delighted to be filming in the region and I look forward to finding out what the young people here have to offer.”
