Fun at festival for children

Two days of entertainment will take place at Tynemouth Station for children aged under five as part of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival.

This weekend’s festival begins with performances at Playhouse Whitley Bay on Friday, with gig headliners Lawson and Paul Weller performing at Tynemouth Priory and Castle on Friday and Saturday evening.

On Saturday and Sunday, there is a full schedule of events for younger audiences in Tynemouth Station:-

• 10am to 4pm, House of Objects – make flags, dream catchers and rain sticks out of reclaimed waste materials;

• 10am to 11am, Piccolo – join in and make music with the specialist pre-school music group;

• 11am to noon, Glooptastic Tots will provide messy play;

• 11am to noon and 3pm to 4pm, Bare Toed Dance Company will have toys, props and a treasure chest;

• noon to 1pm, Bookhappy – stories, movement, rhymes and games;

• 1pm to 2pm, children can join in dance and acrobatics with Bare Toed Dance Company;

• 1pm to 4pm, a fantasy photo booth themed around football and the World Cup countries with fun dressing up and pictures;

• 2pm to 3pm, Ged Camille Drumming Workshop in Latin and African music.
