Pals Fergus Poole and Alan and Allyson Moorhead organised the Rock for Life charity night at Rockliff Rugby Club in Whitley Bay after two of their friends were diagnosed with breast cancer.

The evening raised an impressive £4,485 for Cancer Research UK, and now the group hopes to make it an annual event.

Fergus said: “Rockcliff was only too pleased to help us put on a brilliant night, and support from local businesses, including Mark and Michelle Percy, excellent artwork by Terry Rendles, and donations and gifts from local and national businesses, helped us towards a fabulous total.

“Everyone enjoyed the evening, knowing they were contributing towards such a deserving cause.”
