Geoff receives mention for his work promoting Cheviots

A MONKSEATON author is celebrating after receiving a special mention at a top regional award ceremony.

Since 2006, Geoff Holland has produced more than 30 easy-to-follow walks around the Cheviot Hills on his website

And it was for that work he received a ‘Special Mention’ at the National Park Awards, just being pipped for the Welcoming Park Award.

Judges were impressed with his website, which also features a photo gallery and a selection of his evocative poetry.

Geoff was recognised for taking the initiative to be an unpaid visitor ambassador for the National Park and champion of the Cheviots.

The awards, held for the second time, recognise those who help the National Park Authority meet the aims of the National Park Management Plan.
