Girl taken to hospital after being hit by car

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 10-year-old girl was hit by a car in North Tyneside.

The incident happened at about 2.45pm yesterday (Tuesday) – the child was hit by a red Nissan Juke on Middle Engine Lane in Wallsend.

Emergency services attended and the girl was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan Juke stopped at the scene and was spoken to by police.

She was shaken, but not injured.

An investigation into the circumstances around the collision has been launched and traffic officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashboard camera footage of the collision.
