The Knit and Knatter group at Whitley Bay Big Local has been creating Trauma Teddies to be used by the emergency services when caring for children.

These creative Whitley Bay residents responded to a plea from Northumbria Police for volunteers to knit teddy bears to provide comfort to little ones when they need it most and were recently delighted to hand over a batch of adorable teddies to PCSO Carlie English.

“We really enjoyed knitting these lovely little teddies and it’s wonderful to know they’ll make such a difference,” said Knit and Knatter group member Sue.

Whitley Bay Knit and Knatter is a friendly and informal group that meets on Friday mornings at the Big Local Shop and welcome new members – no experience necessary.
