Campaigners battling to save a sea front cafe have vowed not to give up the fight.
Members of the ‘Save and revamp the Boardwalk’ group made a formal complaint against North Tyneside Council’s decision to demolish the Boardwalk Cafe on Watts Slope, Whitley Bay.
But after their initial complaint was rejected they have decided to continue with the complaint.
Gillian Swanson, of the group, said: “We have little hope of influencing the council, who resolutely refuse to address the points we put to them. However, we hope that, when all avenues in the Complaints Scheme have been explored and we are finally allowed to approach the Ombudsman there will be a proper examination of the central issue.”
A council spokesperson said: “North Tyneside Council takes all complaints seriously and therefore will be responding to the residents regarding the issues raised in their recent letter.”
