Volunteers at a borough charity shop have raised money for the organisation by getting sponsored to shave their heads.
Kevin Atkinson and Sharon Weir, from North Shields’ St Oswald’s Hospice shop, have collectively raised more than £400.
Kevin, who started volunteering in October 2014, has raised more than £100, which is to be match funded by Pertemps People Development Group.
And Sharon, who has been volunteering for five months, has raised over £200 through collections from family and friends.
She said: “I first came to the charity shop as a customer and now I am a volunteer. I have alopecia and for a long time I always wore a hat as I was so self-conscious.
“Working at the shop has helped improve my confidence, I feel as though I don’t need to wear the hat anymore.”
