Hands-on summer fun
Two churches have earned a round of applause for offering free children's summer play sessions.
The Children’s Lunch and Play (CLAP Hands) sessions have been set up by St Andrew’s United Reformed Church and St Peter’s Church in Monkseaton to run throughout August.
Youngsters aged five to 12 can play games and have a cooked meal at St Peter’s on Tuesdays and St Andrew’s on Thursdays, from 12.30pm to 2pm, with activities including table tennis, painting and a bouncy castle.
The Rev Matthew Prevett said: “The children have been really enjoying their time and we hope to welcome more.”
