Have say on priorities for council

RESIDENTS are being asked to help decide what North Tyneside Council’s priorities should be.

People going along to upcoming area forum meetings will be asked for their views.

Representatives of the borough’s two new NHS GP groups – CareFirst and Engage Healthcare – will attend to explain their plans for future services.

Area forums, all starting at 6pm, will be held at Killingworth’s White Swan Centre on Tuesday; Howdon Community Centre, in Denbigh Avenue, on Wednesday; the Shiremoor Centre on Tuesday, September 13; and Cullercoats Community Centre, in Belle Vue Street, on Wednesday, September 21.

Coun Pam McIntyre, cabinet member for engagement and the environment, said: “It’s really important that residents give us their views on what the council’s priorities should be and how money should be spent.

“Attending an area forum is one of the ways that people can have their say in shaping the future direction of the council.”

The council’s Strategic Plan and Budget will set out the policies and priorities for the council over the four years from April 2012.

Work to shape the plan and budget includes asking local people and representatives of key groups for their views.
