Head teacher Liz Hayes has been inducted as the latest member of Whitley Bay Rotary Club.
President David Wilkinson said: “We are delighted Liz is able to join us. She will be fondly remembered by generations of young people in North Tyneside, who will have known her as their maths teacher or head of year. I am sure that Liz will make a positive contribution to our club and the Rotary organisation.”
Ms Hayes’ father, the Rev Clem White, was also vicar at St Peter’s, Monkseaton, before retiring to St Mary’s, where she is a regular member of the congregation.
Ms Hayes said: “I have long been an admirer of the Rotary Club organisation and I’m especially delighted to be joining Whitley Bay, which has made me feel so welcome. I now look forward to many years of fellowship and laughter supporting the community.”
