MONKEY mayhem is taking place at a borough aquarium as part of a range of Easter activities.
Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium is home to a colony of miniature New World monkeys including marmosets and tamarins as part of their ‘Amazing Amazon’ feature.
In addition to three daily monkey feeds and question and answer sessions, visitors will be able to complete fun monkey quiz sheets and colour in their own monkey pictures.
Visitors will also be invited to come up with names for their three black-tailed marmosets.
Blue Reef’s Anna Pellegrino said: “Since we opened Amazing Amazon it has become one of our most popular features.
“This event will allow visitors to find out more about our resident colonies in a fun and entertaining way.”
Amazing Amazon is a new display based on the tropical rainforests, featuring a selection of freshwater rainforest fish species alongside realistic planting and a waterfall and is home to a colony of rescued monkeys including marmosets and tamarins.
Monkey Mayhem is on daily until April 15.
