The first properties at Story Homes’ forthcoming North Tyneside developments, Dove Park in North Shields and Brierdene at Backworth, have been snapped up.
Several buyers reserved homes at a launch event held at Tynemouth’s Grand Hotel.
Husband and wife Dale and Greta Fowler were the first to secure their new home, at Dove Park, off Rake Lane, having been first in a queue for the event.
The retired couple, residents of nearby Tynemouth for the last 30 years, were given champagne and flowers to celelebrate their purchase of a three-bedroom home with a south-facing garden.
Dale, a former civil engineer, said: “We had been looking for a new home, and we didn’t want to move out of the area.
“We really wanted a new house to keep the maintenance down so we can enjoy our retirement.”
“The quality of Story Homes’ properties really impressed us and I can’t fault the company in how helpful it has been.”
Story Homes sales director Louise McGuckin said: “It’s fantastic to be able to secure the Fowlers a new home for their retirement.
“The Rake Lane area will really benefit from the Dove Park development, which brings with it nine different house types and beautiful homes.”
Chris Allan and Emma Johnson have also bought a home at Dove Park.
Chris, a teacher, and Emma, a pharmacy dispenser, are first-time buyers and had aspired to buy their own home for some time.
The couple’s daughter, Lauren, a pupil at nearby Preston Grange Primary School, said she couldn’t wait to begin decorating her new room.
Chris said: “We’ve been looking for a home for a while, so when this opportunity at Dove Park came up, we were really excited.
“When we saw the quality of the properties from Story Homes, we knew this is where we just had to be.
“It’s a great feeling, having dreamt about this for a while and then leaving the launch as home-owners.
“To be able to live somewhere where I grew up, in this type of house, is fantastic.”
