Hundreds at hustings for election debate

Hundreds of residents packed into a hustings event to hear candidates outline their manifestos in the forthcoming General Election.

North Tyneside People’s Assembly organised the ‘Question Time’ event at the Park Hotel in Tynemouth, with more than 250 people attending.

The panel comprised of Alan Campbell (Labour), Julia Erskine (Green), Glenn Hall (Conservative), Gary Legg (UKIP) and Tim Wall (Trade Unions and Socialists Alliance).

Questions were submitted via email, Facebook and on the night.

Each candidate was given the same amount of time to make their points, with the meeting chaired by Lesley Booth, of the People’s Assembly.

The Question Time meeting was being organised by the North Tyneside branch of the People’s Assembly which invited representatives of all of the parties standing in the election to take part.
