A borough photographer will have his work on show at the new emergency hospital after coming runner up in a competition.
Paul Jones’ image of the lower promenade and the disused paddling pool was chosen as the runner up image in the competition, and will now go on disaply in the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, which opened in June.
“I know I did not win the overall competition but I am very proud to come second and more importantly get ‘a part of the Whitley Bay Past’ back in peoples minds, reminding them of happy joyful days gone by.
“People are quick to pull Whitley Bay and North Tyneside Council down, but I am proud of where I live an am glad that my image will be there for all to see.
“Whitley Bay is about to rise again from the flames, and it is important that we all promote our great seaside town whenever we can.”
“There’s not just pretty pictures of the lighthouse and the dome for us to see, there is beauty all around us, we just have to look a little harder sometimes to see it,” he added.
