A NEW community partnership is looking to recruit a team of volunteers who can help take local services into the community.
Community First – an initiative led by Age UK, VODA and North Tyneside Council – aims to enhance and extend existing services with an emphasis on outreach activities and provide further access points for isolated members of the community.
Volunteers will have the chance to support the existing Mobile Library Service establishing a revised schedule of locations and services available across the borough and assist local library staff in the delivery of sessions and activities for young children.
An additional volunteering opportunity will give individuals the chance to support current tourist information activity welcoming cruise ship visitors and helping at local events.
Robin Fry, VODA’s volunteer centre manager, said: “We are really excited about being able to offer these new and unique volunteering opportunities to residents of North Tyneside.
“We are particularly seeking volunteers with good interpersonal skills who can encourage people to access services, and also welcome new visitors to the area.
“Full training and support will be provided to all volunteers and they will have their out of pocket expenses reimbursed.”
