Two plucky young people from North Tyneside have been sharing their experiences of homelessness at a major international conference.
Daniel Marshall and Colin Wright were chosen as the UK’s representatives for the event in Brussels, which is part of a worldwide initiative to allow street children to make their voices heard.
The pair, from YMCA North Tyneside, shared their own stories, as well as contributed to a range of discussions about children’s rights and social protection.
Youngsters from more than 25 countries are taking part in seven such consultations to inform the forthcoming UN General Comment on Children In Street Situations.
The report will offer guidance to governments to enable them to provide better tailored support and intervention to address the needs of street children.
