A junior football club is looking to expand its pool of players while encouraging more to play the game.

The free day, for girls aged between six and 12, takes place on Saturday from 10am to 2pm at Waterville Primary School, North Shields.

To book a place call 0844 372 1892 ext. 8541 or email foundation@nufc.co.uk

In their first season the girls teams have at U13 and U15 played futsal and see this as a key development tool.

They also have put five girls through their referring courses which all helps build confidence and experience.

A new U9 team is starting in the summer and any girls interested in playing should come along to the fun day or contact Paul Ritson on 07787 241978.

David Dodds, who helps runs the girls section, said: “We really believe in building a sense of belonging for the girls at West Allotment and see many friendships developing, all our girls train together on the same night at the same place and this creates a club spirit.”
