A free advice guide for over 50s in North Tyneside and Newcastle has been updated.
Some 10,000 copies of The Golden Guide 2018 are going out, including a supply for all GP practices.
It is packed with tips on finding help with health, care and money issues and also lists all kinds of leisure activities – from singing to surfboarding, and from computers to croquet.
In addition, there are some new groups and expert contacts in every chapter.
This year, North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group, TyneHealth and Infrastructure North have helped fund thousands of extra copies for GP practices and their Care Navigator teams, who will use them to signpost patients to extra support and advice.
Editor Heather Alabaster said: “People are often surprised to discover many local services they didn’t know existed.
“This year, we’re delighted to print not just extra contacts, but thousands more copies as well.”
As well as going to GP surgeries, copies are in library branches and with various charities.
There is a free postal service for over 50s residents – call Care and Connect on 0191 6437474 – and to see the full guide online, go to www.goldenguide.org.uk
