A selfless teenager is aiming to raise money for two charities.
Laura Scurr, from Whitley Bay, is among the shortlisted finalists in the 2017 Miss Teen Galaxy, which honours those teenagers who set out to make a difference in the community.
After winning Miss Belle North East, Laura has set out to raise as much money as possible for the Christie Cancer and Ronald McDonald charities.
She has organised a family fun day at Cullercoats Methodist Church on Saturday, starting at 1pm.
The family fun day features entertainment, including balloon modelling, catwalk with local models, singers, face-painting, visits from Disney Princesses and a range of stalls, including cake, book, jewellery and Forever Living stalls, and a raffle.
Entry is £3.50 per child, paid at the door, and adults are free.
Donations can be made for tea and coffee.
Her mother Sue said: “Laura is hoping to make this event a success and has worked extremely hard in putting this together.
“She feels that with everyone’s help a huge difference can be made to adults and children affected by cancer and other terminal illnesses.”
