Librarian Tess turns judge for children’s book awards

North Tyneside librarian Tess Macpherson has read and re-read dozens of new books as a judge on the national panel of the UK’s most prestigious children’s book awards.

A librarian on the Children’s Team at North Tyneside Libraries, Tess represented the north east on the judging panel for the Carnegie Medal.

Alongside her commitment to the judging panel Tess also ran a Kate Greenaway shadowing group at Rockcliffe First School in Whitley Bay where the children read and chose their own favourites.

Tess said: “It was an honour to have been chosen as a judge for these important awards.”

The Carnegie medal was won by Sally Gardner with Maggot Moon while Levi Pinfold won the Kate Greenaway medal with Black Dog.
