Small local producers will be selling their products at a special market.
Shoppers will be able to sample and buy a wide range of locally-produced and hand-made goods from North Tyneside-based businesses, including local independent sellers and service providers.
The market takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, May 16, in a marquee located on Whitley Road, Whitley Bay.
The event, which has been organised by North Tyneside Council and The North Tyneside Business Factory, has been inspired by the national ‘Love Your Local Market’ initiative – a celebration of the UK’s market culture, which is now in its fifth year.
The Love Your Local Market scheme runs from May 13 to May 27, with more than 1,000 markets nationally supporting this year’s campaign.
Mayor Norma Redfearn said: “This weekend’s market will be a great event, attracting visitors and shoppers into Whitley Bay and giving our local small businesses a platform to showcase their goods and talents.
“It promises to be a great event, with something for all. North Tyneside Council is delighted to be able to support the Local Your Local Market scheme once again.”
