Prior to Christmas, the choir I lead, Bayvox, held its annual fundraising concert.
We raised just short of £300 for MacMillan and collected more than 100 items for the The Bay Foodbank.
As always, we were well-supported by our friends and families, but I wanted to mention in particular the support we get from the management and staff of The Victoria, in Whitley Bay.
We rehearse in the upstairs room each Monday at 8pm.
At Christmas James Alls, the manager, provides the room, staff and buffet at no cost to us.
This means that everything we raise goes directly to charity.
The choir and the pub both operate within the Whitley Bay Big Local area, and I think this is a really good example of how businesses can work together to mutually support each other and the local community.
Apart from the fantastic wider local support we receive, the choir functions as a small, friendly community, and we’re always happy to accept new members.
