North Tyneside-born Lois Amber Toole is currently living in Los Angeles after gaining scholarships to study in the US and starting out in an acting career while over there.

She started her training with the National Youth Theatre and the National Youth Film Academy and was then granted a scholarship to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, followed by another one to its LA campus.

She graduated at the Dolby Theatre in May 2015 and even made it to the Oscars.

She admits that she struggled to stand out from the crowd in Hollywood initially, but her career is now gaining momentum.

She has written and starred in a one-person show called Skeleton Key, about a girl in an abusive relationship.

Lois said: “I was extremely proud that the show was well received and was picked up by Walk a Mile Productions for a full 12-week run at the Lounge Theatre, set for 2017.

“I am currently adapting the show to a screenplay with the new title Fairy Face, as well as writing a short film, called Soft Focus, with some of my fellow students that centres on the digital generation and the comedy web series The Apartment.”
