A couple who have been visiting a shopping centre for more than three decades have been honoured for their loved-up custom.
Bosses at the Beacon shopping centre in North Shields have presented childhood sweethearts Ken and Pam Campbell with a special Valentine’s gift made up of donations from retailers in the centre.
The pair – who met at Linskill Secondary School in North Shields when Pam was 15 and Ken was 16 – have been visiting the shopping centre on a weekly basis since it first opened.
Ken said: “We have been coming to The Beacon since the day it opened, 37 years ago. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at the centre.
“We know many of the store managers and we always feel welcomed when we come here.”
Dave Menzies, centre manager, said: “Ken and Pam have been loyal customers of ours for many years.”
“This Valentine’s Day we wanted to honour such a loyal couple and say thank you for their many years of support.
“As a community shopping centre we thrive on getting to know our customers and we are delighted that Ken and Pam are still regular shoppers here.”
The Beacon is calling for nominations for another worthy couple from North Shields to win a Valentine’s gift, donated by the retailers of The Beacon.
