Mad Hatter’s tea party in aid of charity

A pop-up shop with a difference is opening this weekend to support a charity.

Shoppers at the Forum shopping centre in Wallsend are invited to celebrate Mother’s Day at a tea room with a difference.

Milligans Bakery and Cullercoats Event Planners Vanilla Teas have joined forces with RNIB, the Forum’s chosen charity of the year, to create an Alice In Wonderland-themed ‘Pop-Up Tea Room’.

Helen Edwards, of Vanilla Teas, has used all manner of drapes and props to transform a shop unit at the Forum into a scene from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Shoppers can enjoy tea and cake for just £1 with all proceeds going to the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Children can enter a competition to explain why ‘My Mum’s the Best’ with the winner receiving a beauty hamper.

Helen Rogers, RNIB’s area fundraising manager, said: “For anyone who can’t get to the tea room, they can still support RNIB by holding their own Tea for RNIB at home or work.”

The Pop-Up Tea Room will be open 10am to 4pm on Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14.
