A man was arrested for breach of the peace earlier this morning after being pulled from the water at North Shields.

At 3.23am today, police received a report of concern for a man in Bedford Street. Officers attended and discovered that the man had gone into the water down by the Fish Quay.

A police officer pulled him out of the water and he was checked over by an ambulance crew, who deemed him to be fine. He was arrested for breach of the peace and currently remains in police custody.
