Man suffers serious injuries after being stabbed in Whitley Bay

A man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being stabbed at a house in Whitley Bay.

The 37-year-old suffered a serious stab wounds to his stomach following the incident at a house in York Road.

Police were called to the property just before 6.30pm on Tuesday, August 25.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is still receiving treatment. His condition is described as serious but stable.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains in custody.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Steve Hakin said: “We recognise this incident will cause concern for residents and we want to reassure people that we have extra officers on patrol carrying out enquiries.

“Anyone who may have information about the assault is asked to come forward and speak to us.”
