REGENERATING a town centre will be the only topic of discussion at a special area forum next week.
For years, traders and residents in North Shields have called for investment in the town centre to help bring in shoppers and trade.
Now, North Tyneside Council will hold the meeting to discuss potential ideas.
Topics at the event will include the Beacon Shopping Centre, Northumberland Square, North Shields Metro Station, Northumberland Park, the second Tyne Tunnel and the north bank of the River Tyne.
The special North Shields Area Forum will be held on Monday, March 21, from 6.30pm to 8pm in the Saville Exchange, Saville Street, North Shields.
Coun Pam McIntyre, cabinet member for community engagement, said: “This is an opportunity for people to see how North Shields is changing for the better.”
n The next meeting of North Shields Area Forum will go ahead as normal on Wednesday, March 30.
The meeting opens at 5.30pm with refreshments and runs from 6pm to 8pm.
