METRO: Bus replacement was not reliable

I am writing on behalf of myself and the unfortunate passengers stuck outside Tynemouth Metro Station on Saturday, March 12, due to the Metro, yet again, being out of action because of alterations.

We were waiting for the No. 900 replacement buses that were supposed to be frequent and reliable. It would seem not.

After over an hour people began to wonder what had happened to the 900.

A few elderly people were getting anxious, as were most of us. Some people had to resort to the extra expense of a taxi fare.

For those of us who still had the heart to wait, it was relief after 45 minutes to see the 900 show face.

However, the 900 was for North Shields, along with another two that arrived at the same time.

The rest of us were left standing like mugs wondering where the Four Lane Ends bus had got to, and if in fact it would ever turn up.

Eventually, our anxiety came to an end and after some of us waiting an hour, finally it arrived.

It was beyond a joke. No one informed us what was going on and why there was an hour’s wait.

One can only guess what sort of pantomime will take place when the main line is closed for 15 days and the public try to get to work on time.
