MetroCentre manager dies during football game

THE manager of the MetroCentre in Gateshead has tragically died while playing football.

Tim Lamb, who lived in Whitley Bay, passed away on Tuesday night after suffering a heart attack during a match. He was 50-years-old.

A statement from the Capital Shopping Centres Group said: “We are deeply saddened to have to announce that Tim Lamb, general manager at MetroCentre died suddenly yesterday evening of a heart attack whilst playing football.

“Tim was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him and he will be sorely missed.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife and family at this tragic time.”

Mr Lamb was Chairperson of the North Tyneside based Pathways4All charity, and founder of the charity Lynn McManus confirmed on Wednesday that they would be naming the centre after him.

She said: “We are all absolutely devastated, it has come as a complete shock.

“He was as passionate about Pathways as I am and he brought us on so much.

“We have decided to name the centre after him, there is no doubt about that what so ever.

“He was an amazing, vibrant man who was so fit, and it has come as a complete shock. Our thoughts are with his family.”
