A gang member has ended up back in court after getting confused over which areas of Wallsend he had been banned from.
Dean Elliott was given an anti-social behaviour injunction by North Shields County Court for his role in a mass armed brawl in Howdon last February.
The 23-year-old, originally from Blackpool, had been banned from certain parts of the town but was picked up by police officers on Tynemouth Road on Tuesday – an area he was prohibited from entering.
At a hearing last Thursday, the court was told that Elliott had been confused over which areas he could enter.
Liz Dunbar, defending, said: “This was a genuine error on the part of Mr Elliott.
“He was unclear of the boundaries and even sought clarification from his probation officer on where he could and couldn’t go.”
District Judge Derek Morgan gave him a month suspended sentence to run for the remainder of the injunction.
