A borough festival aimed at people over the age of 50 has returned.
Age Takes Centre Stage has returned for its 19th year with a packed programme of events and activities.
A special lunch event was held on Wednesday at the Wallsend Customer First Centre which saw North Tyneside Council chairman Coun Tommy Mulvenna officially open the event.
During the two-hour launch there was a performance by LN North East’s choir, a hands-on memories session with local historian Andrew Clark and the launch of ‘Wallsend Remembered 2’ by local author Steve Boundey.
A joint project between North Tyneside Council and Age UK North Tyneside, Age Takes Centre Stage aims to encourage residents to meet new people, develop new interests and visit new places.
This year’s programme ranges from dance and craft sessions, to bowling and kayaking.
