Residents looking to the future are being encouraged to think about making a Will while also supporting a charity.
St Oswald’s Hospice is holding a Make a Will Month throughout June where participants can either make or update their will while supporting the charity.

Participating solicitors across the region, including Kidd & Spoor in Whitley Bay, are charging £90 for a single Will or £125 for a pair and the full fee is then donated to St Oswald’s Hospice.
Amy Slater, 29 from Whitley Bay, is taking advantage of the scheme.
She said: “My fiancé David and I are having a baby in July, and it’s really made us think about getting ourselves organised.
“We hadn’t really thought about making a Will, knowing our families would support us in case anything happened.
“St Oswald’s Make a Will Month is a perfect opportunity for us to make our first will together.”
“With maternity leave coming up, we are on a tight budget, but Make a Will Month offers a reduced fee, meaning not only do we save money, we can also make a donation to the Hospice.”
Carole Jacobs, from the St Oswald’s Fundraising Team, said: “Making a Will is one of the most important things you can do for those you love.
“By writing a will you can ensure that, on your death, your affairs will be in order, your loved ones will be taken care of and your wishes will be followed.”
