More acts announced for festival

TWO more top musical acts have been announced for this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.

Sunday’s line-up at this year’s event will now see indie legends The Wonder Stuff and reggae favourites Aswad heading the bill.

They will be joined at Tynemouth Priory and Castle by electro-swing group Kitten and the Hip and Cramlington band The Longsands, with more acts still to be added.

The Wonder Stuff were formed back in 1986 and are best known for their number one hit Dizzy, a cover of the Tommy Roe classic with Vic Reeves.

They have five top 40 albums and 13 top 40 singles to their name, including Size of a Cow and Welcome to the Cheap Seats.

British reggae group Aswad have been performing since the mid-1970s, but truly established themselves in the 1980s and ’90s with big chart hits Shine, Give a Little Love and number one song Don’t Turn Around.

Pop legends The Human League and Brit Award-winner James Morrison have already been announced and will perform over the festival weekend.

Tickets for the Sunday concert at the Priory are on sale now, and cost £12 for adults and £6 for children.

They are available from North Shields and Whitley Bay tourist information centres, or by calling (0191) 200 5895 or (0191) 643 5395.
