Traders are planning more improvements at Whitley Lodge shopping centre following a successful Christmas.

Plans are already being drawn up for events and projects in 2015, with the work being spearheaded by Whitley Lodge Community Spirit supported by North Tyneside Council.

A summer fair is planned for June 7, with volunteers needed, while spring flowers will provide a splash of colour in 14 new planters plus an all-weather noticeboard.

John Evans, events manager with Community Spirit, who runs the Treehouse soft play centre, said: “We are delighted at the support we have received and we hope we will continue to get support from the community and the new landlords to provide more events.’’

Canon Sue Hart, minister at St Mary the Virgin Church, Monkseaton, who chairs Community Spirit, said: “Whitley Lodge has a real buzz thanks to the support of local people and we are looking forward to another great year.”
