Mother thanks fans for their generosity

A mother has thanked a group of football fans who came to her son’s aid to ensure he did not lose his apprenticeship.

Taylor Robson had bought a bike to help get him to his work as an apprentice.

North Shields has got some decent people, especially the football fans.

But the 17-year-old was shocked after it was stolen from the yard of his North Shields home after he had only ridden it once.

However, his mother Nichola put out an appeal on Facebook asking for help in finding the bike.

The appeal was picked up by the North Shields Ultras, a group of North Shields Football Club fans.

And after setting up a collection at the Spring Gardens pub, they raised £110 in a day which they presented to Taylor for him to buy a new bike.

Nichola said: “I just wanted to thank them. It’s a community pulling together. They’ve never met my son yet went out of their way to help him.

“We don’t want any more money, it’s amazing what they have given us so far.

“North Shields has got some decent people, especially the football fans.”

As a thank you, Nichola is now offering ten per cent off anything bought at her Sunflowers Deli, in Albion Road, to anyone wearing a North Shields FC top or badge.
