A new approach to weight loss is being introduced at a council-run gym.
North Tyneside Council’s Contours team has designed the initiative to address ‘weight worries by combining a beginners’ exercise programme with lifestyle advice.
Weight Worries is a free, 12-week programme based at The Parks sport centre in North Shields.
Coun Lesley Spillard, whose cabinet portfolio covers public health, said: “Weight Worries is for residents who know they need to do ‘something’ about their weight, but don’t know where to start.
“It’s a gentle introduction to being more active, with a view to reducing weight and improving health through exercise.”
All classes are exclusive to Weight Worries participants and are lower intensity and shorter duration than mainstream classes.
Weight Worries is generally for adults with a BMI between 25 and 35 and who do very little or no exercise. For more contact (0191) 643 7171.
