New inspector for Wallsend

WALLSEND has a new inspector in charge of policing the town.

Newly promoted Inspector Kevin Benson joins the Wallsend neighbourhood policing team from Newcastle, and has 22 years service with the force, having started his career as a 24/7 officer based in Gosforth.

He spent the first 11 years working in Newcastle before moving to Operational Support, and then on promotion to sergeant, worked in Ashington for 18 months. More recently he worked in neighbourhood policing for the last two years in the east end of Newcastle.

He said: “I’m very pleased to be joining North Tyneside as I know the area command provides a high quality policing service to local people. I’m looking forward to getting to know residents, partners and businesses who make up the Wallsend, Howdon, Battle Hill, Willington Quay and High Farm areas we police.

“I have a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of police and community support officers who have made a real impact in the area and I’m looking forward to continuing this success.”
