A recently modernised post office has been given the stamp of approval before its opening.
Work is taking place on the main branch at Battle Hill Post Office, located in the Mills Local Store in Battle Hill Drive.
The service, which will launch at 1pm on Wednesday, January 21, will be provided from three counter positions.
The branch will open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, with selected post office products and services available from the retail counter during shop opening hours, which are 6am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.
Battle Hill Post Office will have to close at 5.30pm on Thursday, January 15, for the refurbishment to take place with customers asked to use an alternative branch nearby.
Anne Clark, area manager said: “We know how important post office services are to residents in Wallsend and we are confident that this vibrant modern facility at the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the post office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”
