The run and family fun day, which is on Sunday, June 15, at Paddy Freeman Park, is the most ambitious fundraising event organised by the charity that raises funds for the Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital.

More than 500 people will be taking part in three runs, 1.5knm, 5km and 10km, which wind their way through the stunning backdrop of Jesmond Dene.

CHUF trustee Ivan Hollinsworth, from Monkseaton, said: “It’s great to hear the day, which is on Fathers Day, talked about on air and hopefully people are hearing it and signing up to run.

“You can still just turn up and register on the day.

“The more people we have running the more lives the heart unit can save so it really is an important cause.”

On the day there will lots of fun activities being held around the runs, with plenty for all ages.

Kelly said: “It’s a great cause and the synergy with the new brand radio station, Heart, is really uncanny.

“I haven’t trained for a while or done a decent run, so I am sure the 10km will really hurt, but I really want to just get out there and raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity.”
