A recently-opened Whitley Bay restaurant is already making its mark with diners.

Hinnies Restaurant, in East Parade, has been announced as the Diners’ Choice by restaurant goers in the north east according to OpenTable, the world’s leading reservation booking system.

Every customer who books through the OpenTable system is asked to judge a restaurant based on key factors such as food, service, ambiance, and value – with Hinnies scoring the highest mark over the last two months in all areas.

Andy Hook, managing director of Hinnies said: “We are delighted to receive this acknowledgement from OpenTable diners so early after opening and that we’re flying the flag for Whitley Bay. We are proud to know that these diners thoroughly enjoyed their overall experience and have given us such high marks.”

OpenTable is the world’s leading provider of online restaurant reservations, seating more than 15 million diners per month via online bookings across more than 31,000 restaurants.

The OpenTable network connects restaurants and diners, helping diners discover and book the perfect table and helping restaurants deliver personalized hospitality to keep guests coming back.

The OpenTable service enables diners to see which restaurants have available tables, select a restaurant based on verified diner reviews, menus, and other helpful information, and easily book a reservation.

Lucy Taylor, head of restaurant relations, OpenTable UK “OpenTable diners are informed, adventurous and, above all, appreciative of unique dining experiences. These winning restaurants put the wow factor in everything they serve, taking culinary creativity to another level and delighting OpenTable diners every step of the way.”

Hinnies was opened in February serving Geordie Comfort Food using local and seasonal produce by Andy Hook and business partner Dave Townsley.

Andy already owns the award-winning Blackfriars Restaurant and this venture sees his return to the coast ten years after he sold Sidney’s in Tynemouth.
