Members of a community association in the borough are celebrating the completion of a new roof on their centre.
The new roof at Preston Grange Community Centre was made possibly due to a £20,000 funding boost from SITA Trust.

For over a year the centre in North Shields had been struggling with a leaking roof, which was causing damage and disruption inside and out of the building.
Association secretary Judith Blades said: “It was absolutely dreadful, the roof was leaking into the main hall meaning we had to postpone events.
“The stockroom was flooded, the ceiling came down in the disabled toilets; it even flooded the main entrance. We’ve been struggling with buckets everywhere.”
The funding from SITA Trust allowed the flat roof to be completely repaired, meaning it is back to business for the association.
Jools Granville, of SITA Trust, added: “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund.”
Preston Grange Community Association applied for the grant with help from North Tyneside VODA (Voluntary Organisations Development Agency), which supports voluntary and community groups in North Tyneside.
