A NEW programme of disability sports is being launched next week in the borough.
North Tyneside Council is aiming to give disabled people the chance to try something different through the initiative.
Funding from Sport England’s Inclusive Sport Fund has been secured to run the three-year programme, which aims to increase the number of disabled people aged 14 and over that are taking part in sport.
The Inclusive Sport North Tyneside project will deliver a number of activities, including archery, athletics, Boccia, cycling, StreetGolf, sailing, swimming, multi-sport, trampolining and rebound.
A special free launch event will be held at a sports centre next week to mark the latest programme.
Anyone with an interest in disability sport can attend the event on Thursday, April 18, between 1pm and 4pm at The Parks Leisure Centre in North Shields.
A range of activities will be on offer at the event with the Sport North Tyneside team on hand to give advice and support.
