The new Co-op store, in Earsdon Road, Whitley Bay, has seen a £500,000 investment and will be one of the first in the UK to bear the new back to the future Co-op logo.

The store, which opens today (Thursday), will see the return to the Co-op’s iconic blue clover-leaf logo.

Anthony Hall, store manager, said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Earsdon Road and delighted that we have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community.

“We are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit.

“We are proud to be one of the first stores in the UK to display our new Co-op logo and I am confident we will provide the community with everything needed to pick-up delicious food conveniently and create inspirational and tasty meals at home.”

A celebration evening featuring champagne and nibbles is taking place from 5pm to 7pm today.
