A popular cafe has closed ahead of a major refubishment and a new look.
Tynemouth cafe Porters Coffee House has closed after 24 years of trading and will re-open at the end of this month as a craft ale bar, called Platform 2 Craft Ale Bar.
Closing this Sunday, owners Michael and Eve Bowman say the time is now right to forge ahead with an exciting new venture for both them and the area.
And the pair have expressed their sincere thank you to those who have supported them over the past 24 years.
Mr Bowman said: “We’ve enjoyed nearly twenty five years as ‘Porters’ and have always been extremely grateful for the unwavering support we have received from our customers and staff both old and new.
“We have some wonderful memories, however, in the current climate we are looking to create a great new destination bar serving a selection of craft ales, fine wines and artisan gin.
“We will re-open as Platform 2 Craft Ale Bar in late August.”
Porters Coffee House is located in what was once the waiting room of the old Victorian Tynemouth railway station, now Tynemouth Metro station which plays host to the popular weekend markets too.
